It was announced today that the comedic drama Real Time, distributed worldwide by Maximum Films will have its World Premiere as the Opening Night film of the Slamdance Film Festival, the film stars Randy Quaid and Jay Baruchel.

Real Time, written and directed by Randall Cole tells the story of a hit man (Randy Quaid) who gives a compulsive gambler (Jay Baruchel) one hour to live.

Randy Quaid’s extensive list of feature film credits include The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz, The Ice Harvest, Brokeback Mountain, his most recent Goya’s Ghosts and Gary The Tennis Coach. He was nominated for an Academy Award, Golden Globe and BAFTA Award for Best Supporting Actor for The Last Detail and an Independent Spirit award for Parents. Montreal born rising star, Jay Baruchel, co-starred in Knocked Up this past summer and will soon be seen in Fanboys which is being released by Weinstein/MGM on January 18th. He is also starring in Ben Stiller’s Tropic Thunder for Dreamworks next year.

Real Time is Randall Cole’s second feature, he is a graduate of Norman Jewison’s Canadian Film Centre where he made his first feature, 19 Months.

Real Time was produced by January Films, Devonshire Productions, APB Pictures and Serendipity Point Films in association with Telefilm Canada, Corus Entertainment, Astral Media, The Harold Greenberg Fund and the Ontario Media Development Corporation. Maximum Films will release Real Time in Canada and is handling international sales.
