Kevin Bacon and Colin Firth have been set for the lead roles in Serendipity Point Films, Where The Truth Lies, produced by Robert Lantos, written and directed by Atom Egoyan. Principal photography begins on locations in Toronto, Los Angeles and London on August 30th.

Based on Rupert Holmes’ acclaimed novel, Where the Truth Lies, Where The Truth Lies is a sumptuously seductive film noir that digs deep into the underbelly of fame, fortune and the mores of sexual convention.

The versatile Kevin Bacon has starred in acclaimed films such as Mystic River, Wild Things and Apollo 13 and can next be seen in the upcoming The Woodsman. Colin Firth is well known for his roles in the popular romantic comedies Love Actually and Bridget Jones Diary and its upcoming sequel. He has also appeared in several award-winning films such as Girl With The Pearl Earring and Shakespeare In Love.

Where The Truth Lies is a Canada/UK co-production involving Canada’s Serendipity Point Films and the UK’s First Choice Films. Executive Producers include Donald A. Starr, Daniel J.B.Taylor and Colin Leventhal.The Canadian co-producer is Sandra Cunningham and the UK co-producer is Chris Chrisafis. The film is financed by Serendipity Point Films, First Choice Films’ private investors, Astral Media, Telefilm Canada and Corus Entertainment. Summit Entertainment will act as the film’s international sales agent.

Writer/director Atom Egoyan and producer Robert Lantos have previously collaborated on: Ararat (2002); Felicia’s Journey (1999); The Sweet Hereafter (1997), (for which Egoyan received two Academy Award nominations for Best director and Best screenplay and the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival); Exotica (1994), (which won the International Critics Prize at the Cannes Film Festival); and The Adjuster (1991). Egoyan’s other feature film credits include Speaking Parts, Next of Kin, Family Viewing and Calander.

Lantos is currently in post-production on Being Julia starring Annette Bening and Jeremy Irons and directed by Istvan Szabo. His many other feature credits include The Statement; Sunshine (nominated for 3 Golden Globes including Best picture); Existenz (winner of the Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival); CRASH (winner of the Special Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival) Black Robe; Johnny Mnemonic; Joshua Then and Now; In Praise of Older Women.
