Horror-Musical Stage Fright Ramps Up Casting

Serendipity Point Films officially announces that that Meat Loaf Aday (Rocky Horror Picture Show, Fight Club), Douglas Smith (HBO’s Big Love and the upcoming Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters) and Allie MacDonald (House at the End of the Street) have joined the cast of the horror-musical Stage Fright. Jerome Sable (The Legend of Beaver Dam) will direct from his own script. Sable composed the music and wrote the lyrics with Eli Batalion. The film goes to camera September 6 in Ontario, Canada.

Stage Fright tells the story of a snobby musical theater camp terrorized by a blood-thirsty masked killer who despises musical theatre. Scream meets Glee in this genre-bending R-rated horror-musical.

Meat Loaf will play the role of Roger McCall, the fallen-from-grace Broadway producer, and current director of Camp Center Stage, who desperately tries to keep the camp’s show going while campers start to disappear. Smith will play Buddy Swanson and MacDonald plays his sister Camilla Swanson.

“It’s incredibly exciting for us to have such a musical talent bring our songs to life,” says Sable, whose horror-musical short film “The Legend of Beaver Dam” premiered at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival and opened the midnight-madness program at TIFF. “Not to mention how much fun it is to have a veteran from the definitive R-rated musical on-board as we attempt to create one for our generation.”

“No one rocks the screen quite like Meat Loaf,” add producers Ari Lantos and Jonas Bell Pasht.

Stage Fright is a Serendipity Point Films production with Ari Lantos (Barney’s Version, Real Time) and Jonas Bell Pasht (You Might as Well Live) producing. Mark Musselman (Being Julia, Barney’s Version) will Executive Produce. eOne Films has acquired Canadian rights.
